Asin Tottumkal the new wonder in bollywood is from the state of kerala.She had a humble begining in the malayalam movie Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka (2001).It was not of much a commercial success.Her first boxoffice hit is Ghajini tamil(2005) in which she played a character named kalpana who is cheerfull cute lass to perfection,none would have done better than her in that role.

Asin was born in october 26 1985 in a Roman Catholic, Syrian Christian family in Cochin Kerala. Her father Joseph Thotumkal was a businesses man and mother Seline is a doctor.Her father stopped managing his businesses and now manages asins acting career.

Asin informed  her curious fans that her name "means without blemish and pure". She quoted that "the 'A' in [her] name is a sankrit word and word ‘Sin’ from english thus making it a meeting point of the East and the West.
